SOLUTIONS FOR BROKEN WINDOWS

DOGAMI (Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries) tells us that most “stick built” homes (not brick or masonry) will remain standing after “The Big One”.  But they also suggest that there will be many broken windows and glass doors.  And it might be quite awhile before you can find someone to repair the windows.  That is too long to be cold and wet!

So, go to your local store and buy several rolls of clear plastic sheeting along with plenty of duct tape.  That way, you can cover broken windows and doors, keeping the cold, wind, and rain out of your house.

HINT:  Don’t buy the black plastic.  You want to let as much sunlight in the house since we don’t expect electricity for some time after the earthquake.
