Water Filter System for your home

Emergency professionals tell us that we might be on our own for weeks.  And it may be months before we can turn on the faucet for clean tap water.  But it is hard to store enough water to last this long!  Here is the solution that I have chosen for my own home. The Waves4Water Family Filter has a removal rate of 0.10 Micron Absolute, at a 7 log (99.99999%) rate, exceeding EPA and NSF recommendations.  The kit includes everything you need to attach the filter to any plastic bucket or container. (Bucket not included).  Click on the image below for my favorite supplier *.

  • Obtain a clean bucket or plastic container
  • Use the hole cutter to drill a hole 1.5 inches from the bottom of the bucket (you can do this by hand).
  • Screw the connector, hose and filter onto the bucket.
  • Fill the bucket with water from any source, lower the filter head below the water line, and let gravity do the rest.
  • When the filter starts to slow down, use the syringe that comes with the kit to backwash the filter.
  • I use a lid on the bucket with a hole drilled through the center.  In this hole I put a funnel and a standard coffee filter which filters out all the big stuff from the creek near my home!

* Remember that I do not receive any personal benefit by recommending a supplier.
These are just the ones that I have found helpful in my own personal preparation
