TELEPHONE WHEN THE ELECTRICITY IS OUT
Yes ... I know. When "The Big One" hits, we probably won't have electricity OR telephone. But not every disaster is a big one. Even when winter storms that knock the electricity out we often still have telephone service because they are on a separate line. But if you have a telephone that requires electricity, then you are still out of luck. So I keep at least one old fashioned telephone in my home at all times. When the electricity goes out, I plug it in. This can be a lifesaver if you have a medical emergency and need an ambulance.
