WHAT TO DO WHEN THE SHAKING STOPS

Most of us keep a flashlight on the bed table beside us when we sleep.  But after the shaking stops, that flashlight is likely to be in the next county!  So how do you make it to your tsunami go-bag in the front hall closet when it’s dark and there’s broken glass and debris all over the floor?

Easy solution:  Place the supplies below in a bag and tie the bag to the bed.

  • Flashlight or a headlamp so you have your hands free
  • Extra batteries (Note: batteries can corrode a flashlight over time, so keep your batteries in the bag and not in the flashlight
  • Pair of sturdy shoes (so your feet don't get cut on broken glass)
  • Gloves to protect your hands
  • An old pair of glasses if you need them (the pair on the bedside table will probably slide off)

That way, you can reach down and grab the bag after the shaking stops.  This one simple thing costs so little and may save your life!
